SEO is a relatively new industry that has taken off with growing Internet usage and the surging popularity of search engines like Google and Yahoo. Businesses are realizing the potential of online search as a means for effective lead generation, and this has a created a huge demand for increased organic search rankings and thus search engine marketing services.

• Eric Enge of Stone Temple Consulting is a terrific interviewer who recently released the transcript of his link building interview with Googler Matt Cutts. The interview offers some great insights and takeaways that every SEO and web publisher should learn about.
• It’s broken for a while, but the Social Media for Firefox add-on has now been fixed and re-released. The add-on shows you the vote counts on other social bookmarking networks when you’re viewing submissions on Digg, Reddit, StumbleUpon, and del.ici.ous. It’s useful to have if you’re into building up your submissions for your social media profiles.

What is your web browser of choice? Today, Mozilla is releasing the much anticipated next version of it’s popular Firefox application. There’s a ton of fanfare to support the release and Mozilla is even trying to set a new world record for the most downloads in 24 hours.

At the time of this writing, there are over 1,700,000 pledges to download the software all around the world. In order set the new Guinness World Record, they’ll need at least 3 million downloads by the end of the day.

This week I want to feature Dutch SEO, Joost de Valk, for all of his excellent work creating Wordpress plugins and resources. In past weeks, I’ve included weekly link roundups in the Winners of the Week series. However, I now want to reserve that series for actually picking “winners” and acknowledging their work on a weekly basis. Instead of just dropping a bunch of various links, I want to write a full post on why the chosen winner deserves the award.

Using Google Trends has always been a good way to stay on top of buzz keywords and to monitor trends for a single keyword over time. However, one of the biggest qualms about the service was the inability to determine absolute or even relative search frequency between different keywords. Fortunately, that’s changed with the latest update from Google.
